Adobe® Garamond is the recommended typeface family for University communications. This typeface family is used in all University wordmarks. Adobe Garamond Pro and Adobe Garamond Premier Pro are acceptable variations.
Adobe Garamond is available for both PC and Macintosh.
Adobe Garamond Expert provides true small caps old style figures when typed in lower-case.
Titling caps are thinner forms of the Garamond roman capital letters that were originally designed for use at larger than text sizes.
The University's large and small caps look can be achieved in three ways: 1) Using Adobe Garamond Regular for the initial caps and Adobe Garamond Expert for the small caps; or 2) Using the font Adobe Garamond Small Caps & Old Style Figures for both initial and small caps; or 3) Using the font Adobe Garamond Pro in conjunction with the caps and small caps formatting buttons on the toolbar.
Websites are an exception to this rule. Since most PC machines will not have Adobe Garamond installed, we suggest substituting a cross-platform font such as Arial (PC) / Helvetica (Mac), Georgia or Verdana. This website, for instance, primarily uses Verdana.
